Shay Lia has returned with “TAKUTÁ,” her first new music in two years.
The Djiboutian-French singer teamed with Colombian producer Andrés Rebellón to create a hip-shaking groove that is filled with bliss.
“Cette garce est East-African (This baddie is East-African) / Pour qui se prend-elle? (Who does she suppose she is?) / Style y a pas mieux qu’elle ouais (Performing like she’s one of the best yeah),” Lia sings within the first verse.
Concerning her new single, Lia says, “‘TAKUTÁ’ is a joyful expression of my singularity – of all of the sides of myself. It’s a enjoyable, releasing music that calls to the influences which have flowed by way of me all through the totally different lifetimes I’ve lived everywhere in the world.”
“TAKUTÁ” is accompanied by a dancy-heavy video that reveals Lia performing choreography knowledgeable by dancehall, vogue and afro-pop actions.

“TAKUTÁ” is the follow-up to Lia’s 2021 monitor “Irrational (Remix)” that includes Adekunle Gold. The unique model seems on Lia’s Solaris EP, launched in 2020. The venture included the opposite singles “All As much as You” and “Love Me, Love Me Not.”
Solaris adopted Lia’s debut EP, Harmful. “I took my second venture as one other alternative to discover and uncover. I’m discovering myself when you’re discovering me! I’m attempting new issues, altering my strategy and committing to my imaginative and prescient,” Lia shared.
She added, “I didn’t need to keep within the consolation zone I had created with my debut EP, Harmful, which was manufactured from R&B, soul and funk. With Solaris, I went for a mix of R&B, pop and Afrobeat. I’m so grateful to the dope Haitian and Nigerian producers that labored with me on this — my songwriting course of on this venture was extremely natural and releasing.”
