Patti LaBelle’s track “Woman Marmalade,” recorded with Nona Hendryx and the late Sarah Sprint, grew to become a world smash hit following its launch in 1974, even topping the Billboard Sizzling 100 in 1975.
Nevertheless, LaBelle, 78, admits she had no concept what the track’s sexually charged French lyrics meant when she first recorded it.

Although she did not know what the lyrics meant on the time of recording, LaBelle was sure the track can be a smash hit.
