Fall Out Boy are again on the MTV Video Music Awards stage for the third time, performing “We Didn’t Begin the Fireplace,” which updates the Billy Joel hit with lyrics about information occasions from 1989 to 2023. Singer Patrick Stump and bassist Pete Wentz wore outsized fits, à la David Byrne in Cease Making Sense, whereas flames lit up the stage.
